ELLSBURY AND CAMERON AT HADLOCK! FOLLOW HERE!

POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE

New Britain Rock Cats starter Kyle Gibson is the Minnesota Twins #3 prospect, and Thursday at Hadlock Field proved exactly why. Gibson went 7 innings, giving up only 4 hits, 3 of those to MLB talent, 2 by Jacoby Ellsbury and 1 by Mike Cameron. Cameron and Ellsbury both sang praises. "He had pretty good command" Cameron said, "low 90's in velocity..to see that here from a young kid is really good." Ellsbury added "He had 3 pretty good pitches..that he mixed up in spots"

Ellsbury, rehabbing from broken ribs, looks better and better with each game. Today he went 3 - 4 with a double and a stolen base. Cameron on the other hand went 1 - 4 with a double. Cameron said "I'm really close." When asked if was close to 100% he said "never 100% in baseball..but 90s(%) yeah, real close." Ellsbury said his biggest hurdle remains feeling comfortable in his own body.

HADLOCK HEADLINES - OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING CAMERON AND ELLSBURY

Here is the official release about Cameron and Ellsbury from The Portland Sea Dogs

Boston Red Sox outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron are expected to play for the Portland Sea Dogs on Major League rehab assignments on Thursday, May 20th at 12:00 Noon when the Sea Dogs take on the New Britain Rock Cats at Hadlock Field.

Ellsbury, 26, has been on Boston's disabled list since April 20th (retroactive to April 12th) with a rib injury. Ellsbury suffered the injury in an outfield collision with Red Sox third baseman Adrian Beltre on April 11th in Kansas City. In 6 games with the Red Sox this season he is batting .333 (10-for-30) with 4 2B, 1 RBI, 6 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases.

Ellsbury has appeared in 67 games for the Sea Dogs over two seasons. In 2006, Ellsbury appeared in 50 games for the Sea Dogs hitting .308 and helping the Sea Dogs capture their first Eastern League Championship. Ellsbury would return to start the 2007 season in Portland, where he was named the Eastern League Player of the Month. In 17 games he hit .452 with 13 RBI and earned a promotion to Triple-A Pawtucket on May 4th. Ellsbury would conclude the 2007 season helping the Red Sox win the World Series.
Ellsbury went 0‐for‐3 with a walk, and played eight innings in centerfield, leading the Sea Dogs to a 2‐1 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats on Tuesday night with the Sea Dogs.

Cameron, 37, is hitting .233 (7-for-30) with three doubles and two runs scored in 11 games for Boston this season. He was placed on the disabled list on April 20th (retroactive to April 19) with a lower abdominal strain.

Cameron is a 13-year Major League veteran, who has spent time with the White Sox, Reds, Mariners, Mets, Padres, and Brewers. He is in his first season with the Red Sox after signing with the club as a free agent on December 16, 2009. Cameron has captured three gold glove awards and was a Major League All-Star in 2001 with Seattle. He has a .250 career average with 265 home runs in 1,829 Major League games.

Tickets are available to all remaining 2010 Sea Dogs' home games. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com. The Sea Dogs are Maine's most affordable professional sports entertainment.

Mike Cameron in Portland Update

Tonight's Portland Sea Dogs lineup does not include Mike Cameron, who was rumored to be rehabbing for the Sea dogs tonight. The MiLB game notes state he will be here tomorrow. Time will tell. Perhaps they are keeping him out due to the rainy weather and wet field.

Update: According to a tweet from 98.5 The Sports Hub's Marc Bertrand, Terry Francona confirmed that Cameron is out tonight due to weather, and will play CF tomorrow. Friend of The Weekend Warm-Up Joe Haggerty has tweeted both Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron will play for the Sea Dogs Thursday if the weather is ok.
