The Portland Sea Dogs (26-23) overcame a four-run seventh inning deficit to defeat the New Britain Rock Cats 10-6 before 6,663 fans on Monday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Nate Spears, Anthony Rizzo and Yamaico Navarro would all leave the yard during a six-run seventh inning rally as the Sea Dogs take three of four from the Rock Cats and improve to 13-3 on the season against New Britain.
With Portland trailing 6-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Spears would make it a ballgame connecting for a solo homerun, his fifth of the season, to make it a 6-3.

With runners on the corners and two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Brandon Roberts caught most of Hadlock Field off guard. The New Britain outfielder laid down a bunt, bringing home Chris Cates with the eventual winning run, as the Rock Cats beat the Sea Dogs, 3-2.
Robert Coello retired the first two batters he faced, but ran into trouble, as Rene Tosoni drew a two-out walk in the top of the first. The next batter was Erik Lis, and he put the Rock Cats ahead, sending a two-run homer into the Sea Dogs' bullpen.

KELLY BATTLES THROUGH ANOTHER START, DOGS LOSE ON WALK OFF
OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP UP
Matthew Rizzotti hasn't been in the Eastern League for long, but he has certainly made an impact. On Wednesday night, the Reading Phillies' designated hitter hit two home runs, including a walk-off three-run blast in the bottom of the ninth, propelling the Phillies past the Sea Dogs, 5-3, at FirstEnergy Stadium.
For the first time in the series, the Sea Dogs struck first. Matt Sheely led off the top of the third with a single, and quickly stole second base. After a walk and a pair of outs, Sheely scored, as Luis Exposito singled up the middle. The RBI was Exposito's 31st - the most on the team. The next batter up was Anthony Rizzo, and he also picked up an RBI, knocking in Che-Hsuan Lin with a single to right-center.
Unfortunately for Portland, that lead was short-lived, as the Phillies evened the score in the bottom half of the third. Tagg Bozied received a one-out walk, and Matthew Rizzotti brought him in with a two-run homer to right field.
Despite their struggles in the third inning, both starting pitchers settled down to have solid outings on the mound. Casey Kelly tossed five innings for the Sea Dogs, allowing two runs, seven hits, and three walks, while striking out four. Vance Worley lasted seven innings for Reading, allowing two runs, six hits, and four walks, while striking out three.
Sergio Escalona took over for Worley in the top of the eighth, and immediately ran into control problems. Luis Exposito singled inside of a pair of outs, before Escalona issued free passes to Ray Chang, Juan Apodaca, and Chih-Hsien Chiang. Chiang's walk came with the bases loaded, bringing in Exposito with the go-ahead run.
Portland stayed in the lead until the bottom of the ninth, when Matthew Rizzotti finished his magical night. After Mike Spidale struck out to lead off the inning, Bryce Cox allowed back-to-back walks to Domonic Brown and Tagg Bozied. With two men on and one out, Rizzotti took a 1-2 offering from Cox, and lined it out of the park to left-center field, giving the Phillies a 5-3 walk-off win.
Rizzotti's heroics gave Michael Stutes (3-0) the win, while Bryce Cox (0-3) suffered the loss.
The Sea Dogs and Phillies will conclude their four-game series on Thursday night at 6:35. Stephen Fife (2-1, 3.92) will make the start for Portland, while Reading turns to Jason Anderson (0-0, 1.80).

GAME DAY - SEA DOGS COME BACK TO BEAT THE THUNDER 11 - 8
Red Sox Nation, please take a deep breath. A real big deep breath. Fans need to remember, this kid is just 20 years old and is learning a whole new game and a whole new culture.
When I say kid, I mean kid, because like 4000 other "kids" who waited after the Sea Dogs 11-8 comeback win over the Trenton Thunder, Jose Iglesias ignored the spread rehabbing Mike Cameron purchased for the team, went just outside the clubhouse door to the field, and watched fireworks.
Stars might have been in his eyes watching the post game ritual at Hadlock, but they sure aren't when he is on the field. While all fans had been introduced to his defense in spring training, what continues to impress people that watch him every night, is his performance at the plate. Tonight, Iglesias went 4-5 with 3 singles and a triple that helped set up the huge 8th inning.

ELLSBURY AND CAMERON AT HADLOCK! FOLLOW HERE!
POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE
New Britain Rock Cats starter Kyle Gibson is the Minnesota Twins #3 prospect, and Thursday at Hadlock Field proved exactly why. Gibson went 7 innings, giving up only 4 hits, 3 of those to MLB talent, 2 by Jacoby Ellsbury and 1 by Mike Cameron. Cameron and Ellsbury both sang praises. "He had pretty good command" Cameron said, "low 90's in velocity..to see that here from a young kid is really good." Ellsbury added "He had 3 pretty good pitches..that he mixed up in spots"
Ellsbury, rehabbing from broken ribs, looks better and better with each game. Today he went 3 - 4 with a double and a stolen base. Cameron on the other hand went 1 - 4 with a double. Cameron said "I'm really close." When asked if was close to 100% he said "never 100% in baseball..but 90s(%) yeah, real close." Ellsbury said his biggest hurdle remains feeling comfortable in his own body.

Mike Cameron in Portland Update
Tonight's Portland Sea Dogs lineup does not include Mike Cameron, who was rumored to be rehabbing for the Sea dogs tonight. The MiLB game notes state he will be here tomorrow. Time will tell. Perhaps they are keeping him out due to the rainy weather and wet field.
Update: According to a tweet from 98.5 The Sports Hub's Marc Bertrand, Terry Francona confirmed that Cameron is out tonight due to weather, and will play CF tomorrow. Friend of The Weekend Warm-Up Joe Haggerty has tweeted both Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron will play for the Sea Dogs Thursday if the weather is ok.

ROB BRADFORD REPORTS MIKE CAMERON TO REHAB IN PORTLAND WEDNESDAY #mlb #milb
Rob Bradford of WEEI.com just reported on the Red Sox Radio Network that Mike Cameron will be rehabbing in Portland on Wednesday.
HADLOCK HEADLINES PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JOSE IGLESIAS #redsox #milb #sblog
Jose Iglesias takes Hadlock Headlines Player of the Week for week ending May 16th. While Jose slowed at the plate at the end of the week, his opening run of 7-9 in the first two games of the week proved to be the difference.
Offense was not the only reason for the win, as Jose made spectacular play after spectacular play this week.
Highlight of the week by far was Tuesday when Binghamton power hitter Zach Lutz came to the plate. Lutz scorched a ball to the hole that looked like both Yamaico Navarro and Iglesias would miss. Somehow Navarro got the tip of his glove on the ball, changing its directon. Iglesias strecthed, got the ball, twirled and in one motion fired a strike to Nate Spears at 2nd for the force out. The press box all said "WOW" and looked at each other as if to say..did we see that?
Red Sox fans need to remember this is a 20 year old kid who needs some grooming. This is his first venture into pro baseball, so Jose has a long road. If early returns are any indications, Jose will make Sox fans forget the revolving door at shortstop over the last 6 seasons. Please don't missing seeing this special kid, get to Hadlock!

SEA DOGS VS CATS PROSPECT PITCHERS KELLY, DRABEK FACE OFF #redsox #fishercats #bluejays
Anyone in Manchester New Hampshire tonight were treated to a dream prospect match-up. The Portland Sea Dogs Casey Kelly and Fisher Cats Kyle Drabek hooked up and didn't disappoint. Unfortunately the Sea Dogs came up on the short end of the stick, losing to the Fisher Cats 5 - 0.
PORTLAND SEA DOGS OFFICIAL GAME WRAP
For the first three games of the series, Adam Calderone has left the Portland Sea Dogs with nightmares. After five RBI in the first two games, Calderone added three more on Saturday night, including a solo home run. Kyle Drabek made those runs stand up, pitching seven scoreless innings, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats blanked Portland, 5-0, at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
The story entering the game was the fantastic pitching match-up, featuring Portland's Casey Kelly and New Hampshire's Kyle Drabek. Both starters began with pairs of scoreless innings, before the Fisher Cats scored first in the bottom of the third. Jonathan Diaz and Brian Jeroloman started the rally, receiving back-to-back walks. After Darin Mastroianni's sacrifice bunt, Adam Calderone singled to center, driving in Diaz.
That run was the lone blemish on Kelly's line, as the Sea Dogs' starter allowed just two hits and three walks, while striking out six, in four and two-thirds innings. Kelly's final batter of the night was Mastroianni, who went down on strikes. Tommy Hottovy replaced Kelly on the hill, and was greeted rudely by New Hampshire's hottest hitter. Adam Calderone picked up his second RBI of the night, hitting a solo home run to right-center field.
Two innings later, the Fisher Cats extended their lead. Jonathan Diaz led off the frame with a walk, and advanced all the way to third base on Brian Jeroloman's single to right. Two batters later, Adam Calderone stepped to the plate, and continued his strong night at the plate, singling to right, scoring Diaz. Eric Thames loaded the bases with yet another single, ending Hottovy's outing. Bryce Cox took over for Hottovy, and immediately allowed a two-run double to Brad Emaus. However, that was the only hit allowed by Cox in the seventh, as New Hampshire took a 5-0 lead.
When the top of the eighth inning began, Trystan Magnuson took the mound, putting an end to Kyle Drabek's outing. Drabek was as good as advertised, tossing seven scoreless frames, allowing six hits, while striking out four.
Magnuson completed the shutout, keeping Portland off of the scoreboard in the eighth and ninth innings.
The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats will play the final game of the four-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35. Stephen Fife (2-1, 3.26) will make the start for Portland, while New Hampshire counters with Randy Boone (1-2, 2.70).

CHECK OUT OFFICIAL SEA DOGS NOTES. ALSO BELOW, SALEM RED SOX NOTES
The Portland Sea Dogs were outmatched early as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats launched 3 HRs in a 9 - 2 rout. The win puts the Cats 2 full games up on the Sea Dogs for 1st place in the division.
PORTLAND SEA DOGS OFFICIAL GAME WRAP
Power was the name of the game for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Thursday night. Adam Calderone (2) and Brad Emaus both went deep, as the Fisher Cats defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 9-2 at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.
The Fisher Cats wasted little time in jumping on Sea Dogs' starter Ryne Miller. After Darin Mastroianni led off with a fly out, Adam Calderone put the home team ahead, launching a towering home run to right field. Two batters later, Brad Emaus added to the lead, hitting a two-run homer for a 3-0 New Hampshire advantage.
Miller settled down, keeping the Fisher Cats off of the scoreboard in the second and third innings, but in the fourth, more trouble was presented. New Hampshire's first four batters of the frame all reached base, with Brian Jeroloman and Darin Mastroianni each picking up RBI. However, the biggest hit of the inning came when Adam Calderone went deep for the second time in three at bats.

HADLOCK HEADLINES - KELLY 7KOS, LOSE TO METS, RIZZO ARRIVES #redsox #sblog @Jerry_Remy
KELLY STRIKES OUT 7 IN LOSS TO METS |
Casey Kelly admittedly left one fastball up and Mets power hitter Zach Lutz made him pay with a 2nd inning HR over the Maine Monster. Kelly pitched effectively again with his fastball touching 94 MPH on the radar gun. He had a season high 7 strike outs, allowed 3 earned runs and threw 82 pitches, 47 which were strikes.
Santo Luis relieved Kelly and promptly gave up 4 runs in the 6th inning.
Youngster Jose Iglasias had his best night at the plate going 4 - 4 including his 8th double of the season.
PORTLAND SEA DOGS OFFICIAL GAME WRAP UP
Casey Kelly struck out a season high seven batters and Jose Iglesias collected four hits but the Binghamton Mets (17-12) defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (19-12) 7-5 Monday night at Hadlock Field in front of 5.039 fans. The loss snapped the Sea Dogs four game win streak.
The Mets scored four times in the top of the sixth inning off Sea Dogs reliever Santo Luis. Jose Coronado and Kirk Nieuwenhuis each chipped it with a two run double. The four run inning put the B-Mets up 7-4 and Binghamton never looked back. Coronado was the offensive leader for the Mets with a 2-for-3 performance with 3 RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Luis (1-1) suffered the loss for Portland allowing four hits on four runs in one inning of relief.
The Sea Dogs took a brief 4-3 lead after scoring three times in the fifth inning led by a RBI single by Ryan Kalish and sacrifice flies by Luis Exposito and Jose Iglesias.
Iglesias had his best offensive night as a professional, collecting a career high four hits and driving in a run. Iglesias raised his average to a team high .308.
Zach Lutz got the scoring started for Binghamton leading off the second with a home run of Portland starter Casey Kelly. Kelly tossed five innings for the Sea Dogs surrendering three runs on five hits. He struck out a season high seven.
Tommy Hottovy held the Mets scoreless over the final three innings.
Despite allowing four runs on four hits in 1.1 innings, Clint Everts (2-0) earns the win for Binghamton. Jose De La Torre picked-up his second save of the season.

PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME RECAP
For the last two days, Chih-Hsien Chiang has defined the word "clutch." After a two-run double in the ninth inning on Saturday, Chiang was the hero again on Sunday. The left fielder drove in both of Portland's runs, as the Sea Dogs completed a three-game sweep of the Rock Cats, with a 2-1 win at New Britain Stadium.
For most of the day, the story of the game was the pitching of Sea Dogs' starter Kyle Weiland. Because of his pitch count, Weiland was limited to just five innings. However, those five innings could not have been much better, as Weiland struck out four, while not allowing a single baserunner.
New Britain starter Mike McCardell also had a nice day on the hill, allowing one run, four hits, and three walks, while striking out four, in six innings of work. McCardell's only blemish of the afternoon came in the top of the fourth. After Yamaico Navarro struck out, Jose Iglesias singled up the middle. Three pitches later, Chih-Hsien Chiang picked up his fourth RBI of the series, doubling to the right-center field gap.
Robert Coello took over for Weiland, and kept the perfect game going through the sixth inning. However, in the bottom of the seventh, the perfection came to an end, and so did Portland's lead. Ben Revere was hit by the second pitch of the frame, and promptly stole second base. Estarlin De Los Santos bunted Revere to third for the first out. After a walk by Steve Singleton, Coello struck out Rene Tosoni for the second out of the inning. Unfortunately for Coello, he was unable to wiggle out of the jam, allowing an RBI single to Juan Portes.
The tie game didn't last long, as the Sea Dogs quickly regained the lead in the top of the eighth. Ray Chang led off with a single, moved to second on a walk by Luis Exposito, and eventually to third on a bunt by Yamaico Navarro. Jose Iglesias' ground ball to third prevented Chang from scoring, but Exposito had little trouble coming around, as Chih-Hsien Chiang drew a bases loaded walk against reliever Chris Province. Portland's go-ahead run was charged to Henry Arias (0-1), who suffered his first loss in Double-A.
Despite allowing the tying run, Robert Coello (4-1) earned the win for the Sea Dogs. Coello pitched three innings, giving up one run, one hit, two walks, and one hit batsman, while striking out three. Bryce Cox pitched a scoreless ninth, recording his fifth save of the season.
On Monday night, the Sea Dogs will begin a three game series against the Binghamton Mets at Hadlock Field. Casey Kelly (0-2, 2.87) will make the start for Portland, opposed by Binghamton's Brad Holt (0-2, 18.69). First pitch is scheduled for 6:00.

HADLOCK HEADLINES - ANOTHER COMEBACK! DOGS WIN 4 - 2 #redsox #milb @Jerry_Remy
RYAN KALISH (PHOTO JEFF SCHOOLS/CMSB MEDIA) |
Ryan Kalish comes through yet again for the Portland Sea Dogs with a 2 out double in the 9th to beat the New Britain Rock Cats 4 - 2 Friday Night.
PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP UP
The Portland Sea Dogs were down to their final two strikes, as the New Britain Rock Cats could smell the taste of victory. Thanks to Ryan Kalish, that smell was as close as New Britain would get. With two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth, Kalish launched a three-run double, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead for Portland. The Sea Dogs ultimately hung on to win by that score, winning their fourth straight game at New Britain Stadium.
On this night, it was the Rock Cats who started the scoring in the bottom of the first. Ben Revere led off the game with an infield single, and promptly swiped second base with his eighth steal of the season. After back-to-back strikeouts, Juan Portes reached base with a walk, setting the table for Daniel Rams. The New Britain catcher drove an 0-1 offering over Jason Place's head, easily scoring Revere. Portes also tried to score, but didn't make it, thanks to a perfect relay throw from Nate Spears.
The lead didn't last long, as the Sea Dogs scored their first run in the top of the second. Yamaico Navarro started the threat with a one-out walk, and made his way around on back-to-back singles by Juan Apodaca and Chih-Hsien Chiang. Chiang's hit to left field produced the run, giving him ten RBI on the year.
Both starting pitchers got into grooves from there, as Felix Doubront and Tyler Robertson were both on top of their games. Doubront went five and two-third innings for Portland, allowing two runs, six hits, and two walks, while striking out a season-high of nine batters. Robertson was slightly better for New Britain, going six and one-third innings, allowing one run, seven hits, three walks, and three hit batsmen, while striking out five.
The difference between the two starters came in the bottom of the fifth. Steve Singleton led off with a single, and moved to second on Chih-Hsien Chiang's fielding error in left field. The error ended up being meaningless, as Toby Gardenhire walked, two batters later. However, the Rock Cats did take the lead, when Ben Revere launched a run-scoring double off of the right field wall.
New Britain maintained that lead until the ninth. Jason Place started the Sea Dogs' rally with a walk, moved to second on a single by Will Vazquez, and eventually to third, when Nate Spears accepted a free pass. Ray Chang popped up to first base for the second out of the frame, leaving the game in the hands of Ryan Kalish. The Portland center fielder didn't disappoint, clearing the bases with a long double to the right-center field gap. That hit gave the visitors a 4-2 lead.
The Sea Dogs were able to make their comeback, thanks to the spectacular relief effort of Eammon Portice. Portice pitched two and one-third hitless innings, leaving the game after the
eighth. That performance gave Portice (3-1) the win. Santos Arias pitched well in the seventh and eighth for New Britain, but ran into trouble in the ninth, allowing the three runs that gave Portland the win. The loss drops Arias' record to 0-5. Bryce Cox loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but pitched out of it, picking up his fourth save of the season.
The Sea Dogs and Rock Cats will play game two of their three-game series on Saturday night, with an identical starting time of 6:35. Ryne Miller (1-1, 4.30) will make the start for Portland, while New Britain goes with Deolis Guerra (1-1, 3.91).

#SeaDogs Come Back, Beat Reading 7-6
Control issues plagued the Reading Phillies' pitchers all afternoon on Thursday, and the Portland Sea Dogs made sure to take advantage. Sea Dogs' hitters drew a total of ten walks, and three of them came around to score, as the home team erased a 6-2 deficit for a 7-6 win at Hadlock Field.
On Wednesday night, the Sea Dogs recorded four doubles, but were unable to manufacture any runs off of those hits. Thursday afternoon was a different story. Nate Spears led off the bottom of the first with a double to left, and Ryan Kalish walked. With two men on, Luis Exposito doubled to right field, giving the home team a quick 2-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Phillies erased their deficit, while grabbing the lead for the first time. Freddy Galvis started Reading's rally with a walk, moved to second on a single by Ozzie Chavez, and scored on Mike Spidale's single to left. Two batters later, Domonic Brown singled up the middle, setting the stage for Tagg Bozied. The Phillies' cleanup hitter smacked a double to right field, scoring Chavez and Spidale.
One inning later, the visitors added to their lead. Tuffy Gosewich led off the frame with a single to left. After a Freddy Galvis ground out, Ozzie Chavez and Mike Spidale hit back-to-back doubles, putting Reading ahead, 5-2.
The end of the fourth inning also spelled the end of the day for Sea Dogs' starter, Stephen Fife. In four innings of work, Fife allowed five runs, eight hits, and one walk, while striking out five. Vance Worley lasted one inning longer for the Phillies, allowing two runs, six hits, and three walks, while striking out seven, in five innings of work. Both starters received no decisions.
After Worley left the game, Portland's bats came to life. Chance Chapman and Matt German combined to walk the bases loaded, with German walking Ray Chang, for the Sea Dogs' third run of the afternoon. Ryan Kalish stepped up next, and knocked in two runs, with a single to right field. Luis Exposito's walk loaded the bases yet again, but Michael Stutes came out of the bullpen to retire Yamaico Navarro on a pop-up to the catcher.
Stutes wasn't as fortunate in the seventh, as the home team evened the score. Che-Hsuan Lin started the inning with a walk, but was thrown out at second on an attempted steal. Jose Iglesias came up next, and made it to second base on a double, but didn't stay there long, as Chih-Hsien Chiang doubled him home. Chiang tried to extend his double to a triple, but was gunned down at third.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Sea Dogs took the lead. Ryan Kalish and Luis Exposito picked up back-to-back singles, and Yamaico Navarro walked, loading the bases. Che-Hsuan Lin also drew a walk, bringing in Kalish with the go-ahead run.
Santo Luis (1-0) earned the win, pitching two scoreless frames for Portland. He defeated Sergio Escalona (0-2), who allowed one run in two-thirds of an inning. Jason Rice tossed a scoreless ninth for his fourth save of the season.
On Friday night, the Sea Dogs will begin a three-game series in New Britain against the Rock Cats. Felix Doubront (2-0, 3.33) will make his sixth start of the season for Portland, while New Britain counters with Tyler Robertson (0-2, 4.79). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35.

The name of the game Wednesday at Hadlock was starting pitching as Red Sox prospect Casey Kelly went 5, his longest stint of the year so far, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. Phillies starter Drew Naylor allowed only 1 run in 7 strong innings.
Kelly had a good mix of fastball and off speed pitches, especially his curve, which ended 2 at bats on looking strikes.
Naylor matched pitch for pitch and then some only allowing only 1 run over 7 innings. The Sea Dogs lone run came on a ground out to short by Luis Exposito plating Juan Apodaca. Exposito continues his hot hitting, going 2 - 4 with a double.
The Dogs best chance came in the 8th when they got 2 men on, including Ryan Kalish extending his on base streak to 15 games. With 2 outs. Luis Exposito worked the count, but got fooled on a great slider by Phillies reliever Matt German for the strikeout.
The Dogs and Phils finish off what was to be a 4 game series tomorrow at noon at Hadlock.

PORTLAND SEA DOGS OFFICIAL GAME RECAP
Drew Naylor and the Reading bullpen provided the pitching, and Domonic Brown provided the pop, as the Phillies held on for a 2-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.
Naylor (2-3) turned in a seven-inning gem to earn the win for Reading, surrendering one run on six hits and a walk, while striking out six. The Reading starter pitched around four doubles - two from both Ray Chang and Luis Exposito, including back-to-back doubles to lead off the fourth, without allowing a run to score.
Despite picking up the loss, Portland starter Casey Kelly (0-2) enjoyed his longest outing of the season, going five innings. Kelly relinquished just four hits, two walks, and two runs (one earned), however he departed on the hook, as the Sea Dogs’ offense could only muster one run against Naylor.
Domonic Brown was a large thorn in Kelly’s side, hitting a double and a home run in three at-bats against the 20-year old righty. Brown would also score on Brandon Pinckney’s sac fly in the fourth to account for both of Kelly’s runs.
Brown’s fifth inning home run proved to be the difference, as it gave the Phillies a 2-1 lead. His run in the fourth was made possible by some shaky defensive work from the usually sure-handed Jose Iglesias, who uncharacteristically committed two of Portland’s three errors on the night.
The Sea Dogs’ lone run came in the first inning, when Juan Apodaca came in to score on Luis Exposito’s ground out to short. Exposito would end the night two-for-four, extending his hitting streak to five games (9-18, .500).
Robert Coello continued his strong start to the season for Portland, tossing three innings of scoreless baseball, allowing two hits and striking out four, in relief of Kelly. The four-strikeout performance is his sixth consecutive outing with at least two punch-outs (20 strikeouts overall in that span).
The Reading bullpen proved to be just as lights out as Naylor. A brief third of an inning out of Matt German bridged the gap to Michael Schwimer, who went the final inning and two-thirds to pick up his third save of the season.
The Sea Dogs will look to salvage the final game of this series, while finishing with a winning homestand, as they play a 12:00 game against the Phillies on Thursday at Hadlock Field. Stephen Fife (1-1, 2.66) takes the ball for Portland, against Reading’s Vance Worley (1-2, 5.40 ERA).
Notes: Ryan Kalish pinch hit for Juan Apodaca in the eighth, and singled, to reach base safely for his 15thconsecutive game….Bryce Cox struck out two in a scoreless ninth, as Portland pitching combined for ten strikeouts…….the paid attendance for tonight’s game was 3,643.

HADLOCK HEADLINES: SEA DOGS VS ROCK CATS GAME 2 POST #redsox
The Portland Sea Dogs used solid pitching and timly hitting to beat the New Britain Rock Cats 4 - 1 on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon for baseball.
Sea Dogs starter Felix Dubront went 5 2/3 innings allowing only 3 hits and 1 run. Relievers TJ Large and Bryce Cox only gave up 1 hit the rest of the way, finishing the stellar pitching for the Dogs.
Seems there were a few fireworks left over from the Friday Night display, as Sea Dogs Cartcher/DH Luis Exposito seemed to be a target for Rock Cats pitcher Carlos Gutierrez. During Exposito's at bat in the 2nd inning which resulted in a walk, Gutierrez threw behind Exposito 2 times. Exposito stepped back and the 2 exchanded some harsh glances.
Fast forward to the Sea Dogs 6th with 1 on and no out, Gutierrez came up and in and hit Exposito in the arm. Lots of words were exchanged, but order was kept. "I have no idea what happened". Gutierrez and Exposito played in the same area in high school, but Exposito said "we never saw then so it couldn't be (from that)"
Home plate umpire Tim Eastman warned both benches as the time of the play. Sea Dogs manager Arnie Beyeler stuch around a little longer between innings to get clarification on the warning. On his way back to the dugout, Beyeler was tossed by Eastman. When asked what the ejection was for he said "I have no idea, I was on my way back to the dugout."
The Rock Cats and Sea Dogs finish things off tomorrow at 1pm at Hadlock.

PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME SUMMARY
Nate Spears hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie. The Sea Dogs (12-9) would go on to defeat the New Britain Rocks (4-17) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field in front of 6,890 fans.
Portland jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. With Luis Exposito on third and Juan Apodaca on first, Yamaico Navarro hit in to a fielders choice, allowing Exposito to cross the plate.
The Rock Cats instantly tied the game back up at 1-1. Toby Gardenhire doubled to start the inning. Leadoff man Ben Revere put a bunt down to Doubront, but a bad throw kept Revere safe. Mark Dolenc hit in to a double play, but it allowed Gardenhire to scamper home.Things got heated between the two clubs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After being thrown behind twice in an earlier at-bat, Exposito was hit by a Carlos Gutierrez offering which got both dugouts warned. In-between innings, Sea Dogs manager Arnie Beyeler was ejected by Home Plate umpire Tim Eastman.
Spenser Steedley relieved Guiterrez in the seventh inning and Yamaico Navarro led off the inning with a single. After a Che-Hsuan Lin fly out, Chih-Hsien Chiang got a seeing-eye single through the infield and Will Vazquez drew a four-pitch walk to fill the bases. Nate Spears drove a deep fly ball that stayed in the park, but was able to score Navarro, giving the Sea Dogs a 2-1 lead.
Exposito added some insurance for the Sea Dogs in the eighth inning. With Ryan Kalish on first, Exposito ripped a RBI double that gave Portland a 3-1 lead. After a Juan Apodaca ground out moved Exposito to third, Navarro lifted a fly ball deep enough to score Exposito, giving the Sea Dogs a 4-1 lead.
Felix Doubront pitched a wonderful game for the Sea Dogs but did not factor into the decision. In five and two thirds, Doubront gave up only three hits and one earned run. T.J. Large (1-0) picked up the victory in his relief effort of Doubront. Bryce Cox entered the game in the ninth, picking up his third save of the season.
Carlos Gutierrez pitched a gem for the Rock Cats, going six innings, giving up one earned run. Spenser Steedley (1-2) took the loss for New Britain.
