PORTLAND SEA DOGS OFFICIAL GAME WRAP
The Portland Sea Dogs (25-23) used six strong innings from Kyle Weiland (1-4) and a five-run fourth inning to defeat the New Britain Rock Cats, 8-4 on Sunday afternoon in front of 6,930 fans at Hadlock Field.  Portland has won two straight in the series and 12 of 15 on the season against the Rock Cats.
Weiland, who earned his first win of the season, scattered four hits and one run over six frames, and recorded five strikeouts.  The victory for the righty was his first in Double-A, and the teams eighth quality start of the season.  New Britain’s run off Weiland was courtesy of a Yangervis Solartes 2-out RBI single in the fourth inning.

Tyler Robertson (0-5) remains winless for New Britain.  The southpaw lasted only 3.2 innings, surrendering six hits, seven runs (two earned), four walks and four strikeouts.

The walks finally hurt Robertson in the fourth inning, as Portland scored five unearned runs off the lefty.  Ray Chang and Yamaico Navarro began the inning with singles, but Robertson retired the next two batters before a four-pitch walk to Matt Sheely.  Nate Spears reached on an error by first baseman Erik Lis, plating two runs.  Che-Hsuan Lin followed with a 2-run single and Ryan Kalish nailed a run-scoring triple.

Kalish continued his hot hitting blasting a two run homer into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in the third to give the Sea Dogs a 2-0 lead.  A day after tying a franchise record with five hits, Kalish put together a 2-for-4 performance with a triple and a homerun with 3 RBI.  The homer was his team leading eight of the season.  He is 8-for-12 in the series (.666) with two homers and 6 RBI.

New Britain made the game interesting scoring three times in the ninth off Bryce Cox.

The Portland Sea Dogs and New Britain Rock Cats conclude the series on Monday (Memorial Day) at 1:00 pm at Hadlock Field.  Red Sox top pitching prospect Casey Kelly (0-3) takes the mound for Portland.  Kyle Gibson (3-0) gets the nod for New Britain.  The game will be televised live on NESN.
