YAMAICO NAVARRO HIT 2 MOON SHOTS ON WAY TO 11 - 5 WIN
Yamaico Navvaro paced the Portland Sea Dogs offense with 2 HRs and Steven Fife kept them in the game, pitching 7 strong after a rough 1st inning.

OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
Yamaico Navarro blasted two home runs to propel the Portland Sea Dogs (36-31) to an 11-5 victory over the Akron Aeros (33-35) Saturday night at Hadlock Field in front of 6,238 fans.

The Sea Dogs offense pounded out 11 runs on 15 hits. Navarro was 3-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and a walk. Nate Spears had a very solid night as well, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Luis Exposito went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. Eight of the nine Portland starters collected at least one hit.
Despite the power of the Portland offense, it was the Aeros getting off to a quick start scoring three runs on three hits off Stephen Fife. Jason Kipnis had a wall ball double to bring in Jordan Henry. Lonnie Chisenhall followed with a RBI double to deep center, and a John Drennen sac fly to give Akron a 3-0 lead.

The Sea Dogs started chipping away in the bottom of the first. Exposito doubled scoring Che-Hsuan Lin from first base to make the game 3-1.

The Dogs struck again when Navarro led off the bottom of the second with a no doubt solo shot to cut Akron’s lead to 3-2.

Portland took the lead with a big third inning, highlighted by another Navarro blast. The two-on, two out shot cleared the Maine Monster, and gave the Sea Dogs a 6-3 lead. It was the first time this season a Sea Dog has had a multiple home run game, and the first multi-homer game for a Sea Dog since Jon Still did it last July. The home runs were numbers 5 and 6 on the season for Navarro, tying him with Spears for second on the team.

Carlos Rivero hit a solo shot in the 7th to cut the Sea Dogs lead to 8-5.

Fife (4-1), in his longest start of the season earned the win, going seven innings, allowing five runs (4 earned) and tying his season high in strikeouts with six.

Alex White (2-3), who started the game for Akron, went four innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on eight hits and suffered the loss.

Santo Luis pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Fife. He has yielded only one run in his last eight appearances.

The Sea Dogs look to sweep the Aeros tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM. Right-hander Kyle Weiland (3-4, 4.00) faces off against lefty Scott Barnes (2-5, 6.16). The ‘Dogs will don blue jerseys in honor of prostate cancer awareness.
