The Boston Red Sox, Red Sox Executive VP and General Manager Theo Epstein, Ryan Westmoreland and Westmoreland's Dad, Ron took part in a conference call to give updates on how Ryan is progressing.

When Ryan Westmoreland was in Portland to hang with his Sea Dogs pals a couple of weeks ago, it was a surprise to the media. The Red Sox, rightfully so, have kept a lid on Westmoreland's travels. The team is 100% committed to making Ryan's life better before his baseball life is ever thought of. For Ryan, baseball is part of his life. It was clear, watching Ryan hang with Casey Kelly, Ryan Kalish, Anthony Rizzo and the rest of the Sea Dogs, just how important his pals and baseball were to him. To a man on the Sea Dogs, they were reminded of how little a 3-20 slump means in the grand scheme of things. One other thing is very clear, his teammates are better people for knowing Ryan Westmoreland and knowing the path he has had to travel. That knowledge should serve all of these players and their careers for a long time to come.
