SEA DOGS SCORED 10 IN TWO INNINGS TO BEAT ERIE.

The Portland Sea Dogs fell behind the Erie SeaWolves 4-0 after four innings of Wednesday night's game. However, once the runs started coming, they didn't stop. Portland tied the score with four runs in the fifth, then added six more in the seventh, as the 'Dogs picked up a 10-6 win at Jerry Uht Park.

Sea Dogs' starter Robert Coello retired the side in order in the first, but Erie got on the board quickly in the second. Cesar Nicolas and Michael Bertram connected on back-to-back doubles for the first run of the night. Two batters later, Cale Iorg singled to center, putting the home team ahead by a pair.
After a scoreless third inning, the SeaWolves added to their lead in the fourth. Michael Bertram led off the frame with a double, and moved to third on a wild pitch. Bertram stayed there for the next two batters, but got to walk home easily, as Andy Bouchie launched a two-run shot to left field.

Coello was set to leave the game after the fourth, and would have been in line for the loss. However, Portland's offense came alive in a big way in the top of the fifth. Ryan Khoury started the scoring with a solo home run. Chih-Hsien Chiang followed by reaching on an error. After Will Vazquez popped out, the Sea Dogs got four consecutive runners on three hits and one walk. The final two hits tied the score at four, as Ray Chang singled in two, while Luis Exposito knocked in one of his own.

At that point, both of the starting pitchers were out of the game, with both receiving no-decisions. Coello lasted four innings, allowing four runs, five hits, and one walk, while striking out five. Duane Below tossed four and one-third innings for Erie, allowing two runs (one earned), seven hits, and one walk, while striking out four.

Portland's four-run fifth was only the beginning of the offensive attack, as the visitors put six runs on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh. Nate Spears, Che-Hsuan Lin, and Ray Chang started the inning with three consecutive hits, with Chang's giving the Sea Dogs their first lead of the contest. After a pair of outs and a walk, Ryan Khoury singled home two runs, and Chih-Hsien Chiang tripled in two more. Michael Bertram's error produced the final run of the inning, as the 'Dogs turned a 4-0 deficit into a 10-4 lead.

The rally gave Mitch Herold (1-1) his first win in Double-A. Herold was sharp out of the Sea Dogs' bullpen, allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings. Ramon Garcia (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) in one and two-thirds innings.

Portland and Erie will conclude their three-game series on Thursday night at 7:05. Jeremy Kehrt (0-1, 2.40) will make the start for the 'Dogs, while the 'Wolves turn to Thad Weber (3-6, 4.57).
