EVEN WITH DELCARMEN AND HERMIDA, #PORTLANDSEADOGS LOSE TO CATS 3 - 0 #redsox #sblog #milb

OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
Manny Delcarmen started Thursday night's game with a perfect first inning for the Sea Dogs, but it was New Britain starter Tyler Robertson who stole the headlines. Robertson pitched six scoreless innings for his second win of the season, as the Rock Cats blanked Portland 3-0 in the series opener at New Britain Stadium.

The big news entering the game for the Sea Dogs was rehab assignments, as Manny Delcarmen and Jeremy Hermida were both assigned to Portland from the parent Red Sox. Delcarmen's stint didn't last long, as he needed just nine pitches (six strikes) to send the Rock Cats down in order in the bottom of the first. The second batter of the inning was Alexi Casilla, who went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab game with New Britain.

Jeremy Kehrt took over for Delcarmen, and proceeded to keep the Rock Cats hitless through four. In the fifth, the home team broke through, scoring the game's first run. Steve Singleton led off with a single, advanced to second on a walk to Alexander Soto, and eventually went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Mark Dolenc. Yancarlos Ortiz was the next batter up, and he scored Singleton on a ground out to first.

One inning later, New Britain added to the lead. Chris Parmelee singled with one out, and moved to second base on a wild pitch. With two outs, Joe Benson ripped a double to left field, scoring Parmelee. Benson's stay at second didn't last long, as he scored on Steve Singleton's double to right.

Those runs proved to be plenty for Tyler Robertson, who had his best start of the 2010 season for the Rock Cats. The lefty pitched six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, while striking out five. That effort earned Robertson (2-9) the win.

Jeremy Kehrt (1-7) suffered the loss for Portland, tossing five innings, allowing three runs, four hits, and three walks, while striking out one.

Loek Van Mil earned a hold with two scoreless innings, before Billy Bullock nailed down his sixth save of the season in the ninth.

Jeremy Hermida was 2-for-4 in his first rehab game with the Sea Dogs, doubling in the sixth and singling in the eighth.

The Sea Dogs and Rock Cats will play the second game of their four-game series on Friday night at 7:05. Casey Kelly (2-4, 5.28) gets the nod for Portland, while New Britain will turn to Mike McCardell (0-10, 5.87).
