LAVARNWAY HAD 5 RBI TUESDAY
OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
For the second night in a row, the Portland Sea Dogs brought their bats to MerchantsAuto.com Stadium. After scoring eleven runs on Monday, the visiting Sea Dogs did themselves two better on Tuesday, pounding out 13 runs on 19 hits in a 13-6 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Sea Dogs got the offense going early with a two-out rally in the first. Ray Chang walked, Luis Exposito reached on a two-base error, and Anthony Rizzo ripped a two-run double into the left-center field gap. The Fisher Cats got one run back in their half of the first, but Portland had an answer in the second. Jorge Padron led off with a single, and quickly scored on Chih-Hsien Chiang's RBI double down the right field line.

In the third inning, the two clubs exchanged three runs each. The visitors got their runs on a two-run single by Ryan Lavarnway, as well as an RBI single by Matt Sheely, who took over for Che-Hsuan Lin, when Lin was ejected in the second. New Hampshire's three runs came on one swing of the bat, as Travis Snider hit a three-run shot to right.

After Nate Spears grounded out to lead off the fourth, the Sea Dogs blew the game wide open. Six straight hitters reached base on three singles, two walks, and a double. For the second consecutive frame, the biggest hit belonged to Ryan Lavarnway, who crushed a bases loaded double, putting Portland into double digits. Yamaico Navarro and Matt Sheely added one RBI each in the inning, as the visitors took an 11-2 lead.

Portland added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including a solo home run by Matt Sheely. For Sheely, it was his first long ball since July 1, 2007, when he was a member of the Greenville Drive.

On the mound, Jeremy Kehrt (2-7) picked up the win for the Sea Dogs, pitching six innings, allowing four runs (three earned), seven hits, and one walk, while striking out four. Rey Gonzalez (1-2) had a rough start for the Fisher Cats, allowing eleven runs (nine earned), eleven hits, and five walks in three and one-third innings.

The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats will wrap up their three-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05. Casey Kelly (2-4, 5.11) will get the nod for Portland, while Jo-Jo Reyes (1-0, 0.00) will make his second start for New Hampshire.
