LUIS EXPOSITO HOMERS TWICE, BUT DOGS LOSE 10 - 5 #portlandseadogs #redsox

OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS RECAP
Luis Exposito did all he could for the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night, as he hit two home runs and drove in five. However, the Harrisburg Senators got a two-run homer from Marvin Lowrance, a three-run shot by Danny Espinosa, and a two-run double by Adam Fox, as they won the series opener 10-5 at Metro Bank Park.

Once again, the Sea Dogs got off to a good start in the top of the first. With two outs, Ray Chang gave the visitors some hope with a single up the middle. On the very next pitch, Luis Exposito introduced himself to the city of Harrisburg, bashing a two-run shot to left field.

Portland stayed in the lead until the fourth inning, when the Senators drew even with a home run of their own. Josh Johnson led off the frame with a walk, before Marvin Lowrance provided the fireworks with his third homer of the season series.

One inning later, the home team gave the fans more to cheer about. Adam Fox and Edgardo Baez started the fifth by reaching on a walk and an error. After Devin Ivany's sacrifice bunt, Danny Espinosa lifted a three-run shot down the right field line, giving Harrisburg a 5-2 lead.

The Senators continued to hit well in the middle innings, scoring three more runs in the sixth. Two of the runs came on a double to center field by Adam Fox, while Danny Espinosa's infield single produced the third.

Luis Exposito brought the Sea Dogs back within three with his second homer of the day - a three-run blast to right-center. Unfortunately, it was not enough, as the Senators tacked on two more runs for a 10-5 win.

After allowing the two-run homer in the first inning, Harrisburg starter Andrew Kown settled down to pitch a terrific game. Kown (6-4) pitched seven innings for the second time in a row, allowing two runs, three hits, and two walks, while striking out seven. For Portland, Kyle Weiland's line will look much worse than he pitched. Weiland (5-6) ended up going five and one-third innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned), six hits, and two walks, while striking out eight.

The Sea Dogs and Senators will play game two of their four-game series on Friday night at 7:00. Jeremy Kehrt (2-8, 5.37) will make the start for Portland, while Harrisburg's starting pitcher will be Tom Milone (7-5, 3.08).
