OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
The Sea Dogs dropped their third game in a row as well as the series to the Harrisburg Senators. Senators’ southpaw Tom Milone combined with relievers Hassan Pena and Joe Bisenius to defeat the Sea Dogs 10-3 on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field in front of a crowd of 7,104.
Sea Dogs starter Jeremy Kehrt struggled through five innings giving up five runs (four earned) on 12 hits. Eammon Portice did not help the Sea Dogs’ cause as he gave up three runs in his two innings of work. Bryce Cox also gave up two runs to put the Sea Dogs in an even deeper hole. Kehrt (2-8) takes the loss.
The Senators got off to an early start when Marvin Lowrance hit a home run in the first inning. They scored at least one run in all but two innings. The Senators’ 17 hits were the most against Portland this season.
Although the Sea Dogs generated more offense than they did Saturday night, they were unable to keep up with the Senators. The Sea Dogs rallied to score all three of their runs in the bottom of the eighth. Che-Hsuan Lin scored when Ray Chang reached on an error by Senators third baseman Adam Fox. Nate Spears scored on an RBI single from Anthony Rizzo, and Ray Chang scored on a wild pitch from Senators pitcher Joe Bisenius.
Ryan Lavarnway’s hitting streak was snapped at nine games, as he went 0-4 on Sunday afternoon, striking out twice.
Tom Milone (7-5) picks up the win. He stifled the Sea Dogs offense in his 5.1 innings of work, limiting them to five hits and not allowing a run.
The Sea Dogs will look to turn their luck around when they begin a seven-game road trip against the Binghamton Mets tomorrow night at 6:35 pm. The Sea Dogs have not yet selected a starter for tomorrow’s game. The Mets will send left-hander Robert Carson (0-2, 6.75) to the mound.
