Adam Loewen blasted a two run homer in the eighth inning to snap a 3-3 tie as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (50-34) went on to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 Monday night at Hadlock Field in front of the Sea Dogs fifth sell out of the season (7,368 fans).  The Sea Dogs (41-42) drop below the .500 mark for the first time since May 28th.

Loewen and David Cooper both contributed with three hit performances and two RBI to lead the Fisher Cats to their third straight win.

The Fisher Cats drew first blood of the series, picking up a run in the second inning off Kyle Weiland.  Lowen singled with one out and advanced to third base on a double by Cooper.  Jonathan Jaspe picked up his 13th RBI with a ground out.
Portland responded in their half of the second off Zach Stewart.  Luis Exposito (2-for-3, 2 R, HR, RBI) smoked the first pitch over the center-field wall for his sixth homer of the season. Stewart retired the next two batters before Chih-Hsien Chiang doubled and scored on a single by Matt Sheely.

Cooper gave New Hampshire the lead back with a 2-run homer in the fourth inning with two outs.  The homer for Cooper was his 12th of the season giving the Fisher Cats the 3-2 lead.

Chih-Hsien Chiang hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth scoring Expostio to tie the game at three.

Portland starter Weiland pitched six solid innings allowing three runs on five hits, recording five strikeouts.

Loewen’s home run in the eighth came of Ryne Miller (2-6).  Miller lasted only 1.1 innings, suffering the loss after allowing two runs on three hits and yielding three walks. Miller departed with one out in the eighth with the bases loaded.  Jason Rice was summoned from the bullpen and quickly got the next two batters preventing any further damage.
