Dogs lose tough 4-3 game, going 1 - 14 with RISP #portlandseadogs #redsox #milb #mlb #sblog

Sorry about the late posting, not sure why this didn't show yesterday.

Jeremy Kehrt had a rough start, allowing 3 runs in the first two innings, but battled to keep the game close. Kehrt finished throwing 5 innings, allowing 4 runs and 4 walks, which in the end, was his undoing.

Bowie's Ryan Adams torched Kehrt in the 1st with his Eastern League leading 38th double to give the BaySox the early lead. Kehrt loaded the bases in both the 1st and second innings.

The Sea Dogs offense was inconsistent Wednesday going 1 - 14 with runners in scoring position. The only run being scored when Wil Vasquez sacrificed home Chih-Hsein Chiang for the Sea Dogs 1st run. The only other offensive highlight for the Dogs was 2nd baseman Nate Spears, who went 3 - 5 with a double and 2 RBI. Spears was not immune from leaving runners on base, flying out and striking out looking with runners on 3rd.

Eammon Portice finished the game for the Sea Dogs with an impressive performance. Portice allowed a 39th double to Ryan Adams on the 1st pitch he threw, but buckled down to get Tyler Hanson to ground out on the next at bat. After intentionally walking Eastern League HR Leader Joel Guzman (25 HRs), Portice struck out Brandon Waring and himself snared a tough infield pop up off the bat of Jonathan Tucker.

Even with the meat of the order coming up in the 9th for the Sea Dogs, they went quietly as Ray Chang and Ryan Lavarnway grounded out and Anthony Rizzo popped out to the shortstop.

The Sea Dogs get back at it Friday at Hadlock at 7PM with the Richmond Flying Squirrels making their 1st appearance this year at Hadlock. Casey Kelly goes for the Dogs.
