Harrisburg closes out Sea Dogs with 5-3 win.

OFFICIAL SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
Stephen Lombardozzi fell a single shy of a cycle for the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday night. The leadoff hitter started the game with a triple, hit a home run in the third, and scored twice, as the Senators finished off the season series with a 5-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs at Metro Bank Park.

The Senators got off to a very quick start, as Stephen Lombardozzi led off the game with a triple to right field. The second batter was Josh Johnson, who flew out to deep center field, scoring Lombardozzi with the first run. After Jesus Valdez struck out, Chris Marrero singled, bringing up Michael Burgess. The Harrisburg right fielder connected for the second triple of the inning, driving home Marrero.

In the third inning, the Sea Dogs cut that lead in half. With two outs, Nate Spears walked, then advanced to second on a base hit by Ray Chang. Anthony Rizzo followed with a ground ball up the first base line that was misplayed by Chris Marrero. That allowed Spears to score, while Chang took third base.

As they did on Tuesday, the Senators had an answer. Stephen Lombardozzi led off the bottom of the third with a solo home run, giving Harrisburg their two-run lead back. Josh Johnson and Jesus Valdez followed with consecutive singles. After a pair of outs, Marvin Lowrance singled in Johnson, and Tim Pahuta doubled home Valdez.

Portland scored one run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Anthony Rizzo, then tacked on one more in the ninth on a solo home run by Chih-Hsien Chiang. However, that was as close as the visitors got, as the Senators went on to the 5-3 victory.

Brad Peacock (2-1) earned the win, pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing one unearned run, four hits, and three walks, while striking out two. Jeremy Kehrt (2-11) suffered the loss, going six innings, allowing five runs and ten hits, while striking out six. Cole Kimball picked up his ninth save, striking out the only two batters he faced.

On Thursday night, the Sea Dogs will begin their final road series of the 2010 season, when they visit the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Stephen Fife (6-6, 5.12) will make the start for Portland, while Scott Richmond (0-0, 1.80) will make a rehab appearance on the mound for New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
