Sea Dogs fall to Harrisburg

OFFICIAL PORTLAND SEA DOGS GAME WRAP
Chris Marrero is one player that has had the Portland Sea Dogs' number in 2010. On Tuesday night, Marrero continued his hot hitting against Portland, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, as the Harrisburg Senators won 6-3 at Metro Bank Park.

The two teams started the game by exchanging run-scoring groundouts in the first two innings. Portland's run came in the top of the first, as Nate Spears doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Ray Chang's grounder to short. Harrisburg tied the score in the second, when Tim Pahuta walked, Jhonatan Solano doubled, and Edgardo Baez picked up the RBI.

One inning later, the Senators took their first lead of the night. With one out, Jesus Valdez grounded a double down the left field line. The next batter up was Chris Marrero, who knocked in Valdez with a single to right. Tim Pahuta added to that lead, hitting a home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the fourth.

The Sea Dogs got one run back in the fifth. Luis Exposito started the inning with a double to center field, and quickly advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Exposito was still there with two outs, but eventually came around to score on Chih-Hsien Chiang's bloop single to left. However, the Senators had an answer in their half of the fifth, as Chris Marrero drilled a solo home run to left field. In 13 games against Portland this season, Marrero has four homers and 14 RBI.

In the seventh inning, the Sea Dogs temporarily pulled within one. After Luis Exposito grounded out, Ryan Lavarnway hit an opposite field home run - his second in as many nights. Once again, Harrisburg had an answer, as Edgardo Baez led off the bottom half with a triple to center field. After a pair of outs, Jesus Valdez doubled home Baez. Valdez scored two batters later, when Michael Burgess singled through the left side.

Tom Milone (11-5) picked up his third win against Portland, going six and one-third innings, allowing three runs, four hits, and one walk, while striking out seven. Kyle Weiland (5-8) suffered the loss, going five innings, allowing four runs, five hits, and three walks, while striking out three. Cole Kimball got his eighth save with a scoreless ninth, despite loading the bases.

The Sea Dogs and Senators will conclude their three-game series on Wednesday night at 7:00. Jeremy Kehrt (2-10, 4.80) will make the start for Portland, while Brad Peacock (1-1, 4.63) will be on the mound for Harrisburg.
